Raman Lidar
The Raman Lidar systems are powerful instruments for monitoring atmospheric parameters (backscatter coefficient, extinction coefficient, Lidar ratio, optical depth, water vapor) and processes (boundary-layer growth, aerosol and cloud layering, etc). The measurement principle of the LR-systems is based on elastic scattering by suspended aerosols (dust, water droplets, ice crystals, black carbon) and molecules of the atmosphere and elastic (Raman) scattering by water vapor (H2O) and nitrogen (N2) molecules. As a result the profiles of backscatter and extinction coefficient can be determined independently resulting in a dramatic reduction of associated uncertainties.
The LR-systems are available with different laser wavelengths (1064, 532 and 355 nm or any combination), detection wavelengths (1064, 532, 355 nm, Raman-H2O, Raman-N2 and polarization) and telescope aperture sizes. All systems are equipped with an industrial PC and dedicated software, including software modules for data acquisition, analysis and visualization. Eye-safe solutions are available on request.
